sels sailing from this port, 'till your pleasure shoud be known on the
occasion which I beg your Excellency will please to communicate to
me as early as possible
The Soldiers you request shall be put in readiness as far as in my
power to proceed with the above Vessels, but the design cannot be
carried into execution without your assistance as many of them
are in extreme want of Clothing, and I fear the state of your Stores
at Annapolis will prove inadequate to their immediate wants.
I shall also want your Order on the Commissary of Military Stores
at this place for such Arms and Accoutrements as may be wanting to
equip them for Action

Thomas Sim Lee]

Your Excellency will herewith Receive my Commission as Leut
of Montgommerry County It Being intirely out of my power to act
as such any longer — without further Injuries to my own private
affairs — I shall waite on Coll Murdoch Immediately whome is the
Senr officer Here — and Deliver safe into his Custody — your Last
package — Containing the acts of Assembly To procure Recruits —
as also all other necessary papers To Inable him to proceed in Class-
ing the Inhabitants of this County To make good our Quota — your
Excellency and Honourable Council — I doubt not — from The fore-
going Reason will Readily Except my Commission — I can assure
you there is no person more Zealously attached to his Countrys cause
then I am and am bold to say — I have never omitted Exerting Every
nerve in my power — to Carry the laws of this state To the Best of
my knowledge fully into Execution — Since the Contest with our
Unnatural Emmissarys I am still Ready when Ever called on in any
other Capacity — after Closing the Business of last year — or sooner
if Required — to Confront the Ennimy among The Foremost.

[Jas Hamilton, Leonards farm near Frederick's Town, to
H. E. Governor Lee]

From a note I received just now from Mr Wall — he informs me
that he is confined and to be sent to Anapolis, there tried for carry-
ing Letters from Virginia here, which if no other than those sent me,
cannot — respecting their contents affect him.
Mr Wall says there was five, it may be so I recollect only the
enclosed of Mr Clarke's which I preserved as it was on Business, the
others were as it always is my practice destroyed as soon as answer'd.
They were as follows one from Lieut. Coll Lentz, on the Germans
act one from Lt Coll Lind, mentioning the moving of the above
Troops & that the remainder of the British were likewise order'd to
move; But that on his application to Coll Wood they were to remain
3 were from Mr Weir Surgeon Genl giving an account of the Sick
