[John Smith Brookes to The Honble The Governor & Council]

I have done myself the honour to write you repeatedly expressing
my want of Money to execute the business intrusted to my care. I
have now taken the liberty to repeat the request and at the same time
would beg leave to refer you to my former observation, respecting
the purchase being continued with money, for provisions of the meat
kind, as I apprehend the Collection will be too late to expect any
resources of meat from that business — if you should think the mode
improper, a small sum of Money will suffice for the present, but if on
the other hand you should advise the plan I shall need about soo£
Ste Cury I shall be very thankfull for a line from you by Mr Williams
at present I am very busy forwarding the provisions to Geo Town
agreeable to Your Commands.
