[H. Hollingsworth, Head of Elk, to His Excellency, Thomas Sim
Lee Esqr. In Council.]

And please Your ExcelP and Honours The difficulties I am at to
collect the Forage purchased by Mr Williams comisary for this
County determins me to set up a Waggon or two on account of the
State at this Post for the use thereof, as the continental waggons
here are much reduced in both quantity and quality, which has pre-
vented me from compleating my returns for the last year, as the
Flour has been all ready for some time and I Expect will be for-
warded this week, the Bread nearly ready, which as soon as deliveries
are made, Returns shall be made out and sent to your Excellency and
Honours — in consequence of the above I have bespake a Waggon
and Harness with baggs &ca and if there is any Spare Horses be-
longing to the State at any Post, not in immediate use, am of opin-
ion they could be removed to this without any detriment to them, as
their Business would principly be collecting Forage, a Servce which
Horses will thrive at, I have heard of two Horses taken from non-
juries which have return'd shall seek them and if they belong to the
State apply them to this Service, and if none others can be had from
other Posts, must buy, at least as many as will compleat one Team,
