County had have bin extended to this County, as we already see the
good effects of the Law, those people are runing to see who shall pay
first, and I am in hopes, the Tax will be nearly paid in this month.
& Before the Militia from Dorchester gits down.

N B. Should be much Oblidge to you to Inclose me a Commis-
sion for Mr Henry Dennis. I do not know wheather he is a first or
Second Lieul of Capt. Pattersons Company please have it Left blank
and I will fill it up he is much afraid of Being made a prisoner every

night, the Enemy have bin plundering within a few nights at

I This day recd Yours dated 5th Instant, & Notes the Contents,
Since my Last [damaged] About 3m more of Pork should not have
got that, only, by Exchanging the new money for old, with the
diffnt Collectors & Sheriff, However have been able with there as-
sistance to make Good my Contracts, the Purchase now of Fresh
Provision is mostly over, I should be Glad to have early instructions,
to Purchase Barrelled, I have below made a State of what I shall
offer Till I hear from you, Please inform me whether Agreeable
or not, Likewise inform me, whether the Purchase of Fresh, is as
Cheap as the Other Countys in Generall, & the Highest Price I must
go for Barrelled Pork & Beef, Likewise Please send Down by first
opportunity another Supply of money, as I am in Hopes by Ist of
March to have none Left of any kind. I Congratulate you, on the
news from Carolina, but am sorry to inform you, the Robers from
on Board the Hybernia (which is Lying about the mouth of Aname-
sicks) went ashore one night Last week to A Certain Mrs Sehan,
Living near Head Manokin, & Rob'd her, but were Disturbed by
some of the neighbours, so as not to take all they intended, The
Hybernia has been About the Sownd ever since her engagements
with the Purpose, we hear her Loss was 3 Killed & 5 Wownded by a
Person who was on Board the Time of Action.
