484 Letters to the Governor and Council

Number I can get. I have 60 Waggons Impresed in this County to
bring down Conl flour, Forrage & &c you'l send me more Money
as soon as Convenient

[Henry H. Chapman, Port Tobacco, to Colo: John H. Stone,
Annapolis] (Pr favor Mr. Dyson)

I this moment receiv'd a letter from Genl Smallwood desiring
me immediately to repair to George Town to join the regiment;
an Application for Money, Clothes &c being necessary have ap-
ply'd to Mr Dyson to transact that Business for me, as affairs here
render my coming impracticable. I shall esteem it a favour if you'll
give him an order for those things which the late appointed Officers
of my Rank are entitled to.

[Hugh Hopewell, St. Marys County, to Gov. Lee.]

Agreeable to a Letter delivered me by Coll Richard Barnes from
you, I have impressed Two Sloops and one Schooner Boate the
Sloops are about 35 Tons Burthen the Boate above 12 the Sloops
I expect is at the Head of Elk before this the Boate sits off from
Patuxent this Day she would have gone before but wanted some
Repaires

Mr Lansdale brings an Ordr on the Treasur & as Mr Hudson has
sustain'd Great Loss by not obtaing the money before this I hope
you'l Interest yr self in his regard, & have the money got & for-
warded by Mr Landsdale

[Dan'l Jenifer, Portobacco, to Gov. Lee.] (By Mr. Luckett)

Enclosed is what I wrote your Excy the 6th your Letre of the 4th
did not reach me 'till yesterday and I hope my waiting for Leigh's
Waggon will be a sufP apology for the Goods not being sent sooner,
Mr Ridgate has a Quantity of linnens (but none brown) which he
proposes offering to the Governor and Council — shou'd Luckett want
any forage, I hope the Qur Master will be ordered to furnish him,
I believe he will want nothing but Hay, and if there shou'd be any
use for horses I wish the Governor & Council wou'd order the Bay
horse to be retained he is so mischievous I have been obliged to keep
him in the stable for 6 weeks past; he is a good Carriage horse, and
was appraised to £52..10..1, 7 years old

Inclosed I send you My Commission with a Resignation thereon
as I find Myself quite Uncapebel of Acting any Longer in that
