Excellency s order for If I could obtain a Few more Bbles of Flour at
the market Price It would Answer in Part as well as Cash. The
Workmen that were Engaged Repairing the Carriages for field
Peices & Carriages at the Fort have Quitt work for want of money
and I Cannot get any work Executed without Paying for It Imme-
diately

I Flatter myself that If supported with Money (without which
Nothing Can be Done) Everything under my Care shall with the
utmost Expedition be put in such order that it will Render General
Satisfaction and Add to the Credit of
Your Excellencys mo obdt Hble Servt
NB. Ammunition Waggons will be much wanting and ought in
Time to be got in Readyness I am Making out my Returns for
Cloathing &c and shall Transmit them to your Excelly as soon as
Finished.

[James Wood, Frederick Town, to Gov. Lee.] (Fav.
Capt. Bailey)

I have Just received Instructions from the Board of War, to re-
move the Convention Troops from the States of Virginia and Mary-
land to Massachusetts Bay, they have Directed me to make appli-
cation to the Executives of the Different States for proper Guards
for the Purpose, and to Procure a Number of Beeves to Drive with
the Troops. In Consequence of which, I take the Liberty of request-
ing your Excellency to Direct a Guard of Militia Consisting of Two
Hundred Rank and file, with their proper Officers, to go on this Duty
untill they are Relieved by the State of Pennsylvania; and if you
think it Cou'd be Done with Propriety, to Direct Capt Read and his
Company to go the whole Route; and the Voluntier Troop of Horse
belonging to this County as far as Possible. I shall Immediately
make a requisition to the State of Virginia for three Hundred men
and forty or fifty Beeves, and hope that about twenty men may be
Procured by this State. I Presume it will be about the 15th before I
shall be able to march the Troops.

[Chas Blake, Corsica, to His Exel: Thos. Sim Lee Esqr]

I have the honour herewith of transmitting yr Excellency the
several quantitys of provisions Collected in payment of the Tax.
I have recd 2751 3/4 of Wheat part of which has been forwarded by
Colo Hollingsworths order, before it was ground and some flour has
been sent; there still remains a considerable quantity at Mr Hemsley's
Mill and some at others it is grinding with the greatest dispatch. I
have also recd 41 bar: of flour 8821wt Beef gone forward 8956, and
Pork recd for Tax 4655 included in the quantity sent to Annap: in
the Lottery by yr Excellency's order. I reca yr Excelys order to fur-
nish the recruits with provisions I have deliver'd in the Leiutenants
