will convince you that they can have no possible Tendency to dis-
courage so laudable a Spirit, or to impede the Effects which may
be expected from it

Capt. Skinner will deliver you Nineteen prisoners, Taken off the
mouth Patuxent by Capt Folger of the Schooner Antilope Capt.
Folger gave me a memorandum of his proceedings since he came in
the Bay which Capt. Skinner will deliver your Excellency

[John Moale to Gov. Lee.]

An Officer belonging to the Detachmt Commanded by Major Gen-
eral the Marquis de la Fiat, deliver'd Jesse Dungan & Jonathan Paul
(whom the Marquis, had apprehended on Suspicion of their haveing
been Aiding & Assisting, John Paul & Walter Picket, in Endeavour-
ing to Supply the Subjects of the King of Great Britain with Flour)
to me who I have after taking the Inclosed Examination, & being
Promised by the Officers to have further Testimoney sent from the
Detachmt Commited to Baltimore County Goal — the Evidence I
Expected not being sent & that I had (in my Opinion) not being
sufficient to Convict them, I was inclined Either to Discharge, or Ad-
mit them to Bail — but being inform'd this day by Mr Lindinberger
that he had forwarded some depositions respecting these men to you,
I declined doing so untill I could obtain your Excellencys direction in
respect to this matter, will beg you'l give me as soon as possible
Baltimore County ss. The Examination of Wm Kelley a Soldier
in the Detachment Commanded by Major Gen. the Marquis de la
Fiat, taken before me the Subscriber one of the Justices of the County
aforesaid April 20th 1781.
This Examinant saith that Walter Picket, deceased, told him, that
Jonathan Paul & Jesse Dungan, was to Aid & Assist him the said
Picket & John Paul in Carrying Flour on Board the Brig Nesbett &
other Vessells which the said Picket supposed to belong to the King
of Great Britain — & Further saith not
