[Thos Scott, Mr. of His Maj's Sloop Hope, to Gov. Lee.]

I Beg leve to memoorall your Excelency and the Honerable Coun-
cill of Annapolis in behalfe of my selfe and the rest of the prisoners
of war Now in your Gole and as there is a number of prisoners entd
the ships belonging to this State and Likewise at Porthmouth suffer-
ing the same fate by being kept from theare Houses as the ships are
up the bay. I Emmagin wold be easey to Negotiate an Exchange by
flagg as they come Down I beleve there is privates anought on bd the
ship to Exchange what is heare and if your Honorable Counsell think
fitt to propose mee for Captn Midleton I Dont Dout but itt will be
Excepted and if not wold Esteeme itt as the Greatest favour if you
wold Lett a flagg Goe on bd and Gett us our Cloathes as wee are in the
Greatest Destress for want of Linens to Shift ourselves with

[John Voorhees, C. P., George Town, to The Honorable
Matthew Tilghman]

Agreeable to order you have incloStd a return of the Provision
collected in this County. The Wheat is now Manufactg & will soon
be ready, if there is no delay for the want of barrels, and nothing
will procure them but the ready Money, wch I am quite run out off
Money will also be wanted for the removal of the Stores without
money nothing can be done, we have no Cr you will (I have no doubt)
see the Proprietay of Furnishing money, a draft on the Collector of
this County for £200 Specie or the Value in paper will pay yr Grind-
ing, & other Expences, at least will ennable me to execute your future
Orders.

General Buchanan for the Trial of Sunday persons on the 24th
day of April Seventeen Hundred and Eighty one

Ridgely.
Lieuts: Thomas Russell, George Welsh, Thomas Dewett, William
Jacob, Danl Bowley, William Clemm.
Ensigns: James Calhoun, David Evans.
