the enemys vessels which were above sailed down Potomack and
were below Cedar Point at eleven O'clock — they have done no dam-
age since I last wrote you, except destroying Col Lyles house of which
you have no doubt been informed I expect we shall have frequent
visits from these plundering Banditts & hope we will so well pre-
pare as to repel their attack that they will find the business as un-
profitable as it is disgraceful. \Ve thank your Excellency and Coun-
cil for your kind attention in forwarding the Arms.

April 18

[Geo. Lindenberger, Baltimore Town to His Excellency
Thos Sim Lee]

When I sent your Excellency my first Letter dated 11th In-
stant concerning Cromwel, I had no information on Oath nor any
Deposition, as your Excelly will have no doubt observed, therefore
I send a Letter to Richd Dallam Esqr desiring him to furnish me
with Copys in Consequence of which he has sent me the Inclosed.
I therefore think proper to transmit the same to your Excellency as
Early as it was in my power

April 19

[Ridley and Pringle Baltimore, to His Excellency Thomas Sim Lee
Esqr in Council]

It is with much Concern we perceive by your letter of the 12th
Current that you reject the Certificate granted to us, in payment of
the Specie due for the Purchase we made of Confiscated Property.
If your Honble Board will take the trouble to revert to our Accot &
for a moment reflect on the Circumstances, as well as the Disad-
vantages to which we are subjected, by being so long with held from
Payment, we cannot doubt but that you will indulge our request
especially, as the Act, to which you are pleased to use establishes our
Title.
We beg leave to assure you that it is with the utmost reluctance
we renew our application, but the urgency of our Situation lays us
under that necessity.

April 20
