Place of Safety. We wrote some Time ago that we had directed .
Mr Keeports to deliver you two Kegs of musquet Powder which if :
received we imagined would be sufficient for the Militia of your
County. We are desirous to contract for the building of a Galley
and several Barges and wish to be informed on what Terms you
could undertake this Business. We beg your Attention to all public
Property in your County particularly Provisions of all kinds must
be deposited in Places of perfect Security

We wrote to you to forward all the Recruits procured in your
County; since then we have heard that you had proceeded to a Draft
and had the Number assigned for your County if so we request you
to send those Recruits forward to this Place that they may be armed
and disciplined without Loss of Time.

[Council Circular to the Justices of Somerset Dorset and
Worcester Counties]

Enclosed you have Extracts from the Act for the Defence of the
Bay we have wrote to the Lieutenant of the County to have that
Part of the Law respecting the Removal of the Inhabitants &ca put
immediately into Execution. We recommend to your immediate
Attention that Part of the Law directing Provision to be made for
the Inhabitants who may be removed from the Island.

[Council Circular to Doct'rs Murray, Tootell and Steuart] :

The General Assembly being summoned to meet in this City the
tenth Day of May next to deliberate on Business of the first Im-
portance to the State; It is our wish that every Cause which might
prevent or impede their assembling at that Day should be removed.
And as many of that Body have not had the Small Pox and may be
detered from coming unless they are satisfied there is no Danger of
taking the Infection, we most earnestly request you would not
inoculate any Person in this City or its Vicinity after this Day.

[Council Circular to the Lieutenants of Somerset Dorset and
Worcester Counties]

We have enclosed you Extracts from the Act for the Defence of
the Bay, and hereby empower and authorise you immediately to
remove all the Inhabitants from the Islands in your County described
in the Law with all their Stock and other Property to some part of the
Main and to seize and sell all Vessels Boats or Canons belonging
to any of the said Inhabitants, such removal to take place before the
1st Day of May next. You'll observe that no Person is to live on
