trust the Committee will send upon Reading the Act of Assembly
and attending to our Instructions to Mr Hollingsworth that its object
is to suppress a Commerce not only illicit but highly detrimental to
the States and it cannot possibly have a Tendency to retard the Sup-
plies for the Army nor can any injurious Consequences result
from it.

Tuesday 20th February 1781.

Ordered That the Commissary of Stores deliver to William Gold-
smith five pound of shoe thread to be paid for. John Randall seven
Tents and to Capt. William Brown of the Artillery nine Tents.
That the western shore Treasurer pay to Samuel Thomas 3rd two
hundred and thirty four pounds two shillings and six pence of the new
Emission in lieu of nine thousand three hundred and sixty five pounds
due him per Account passed by the Audr Genl
That the said Treasurer pay to Thomas Johnson junior twenty
Pounds five shillings of the same Emission in lieu of Eight hundred
and ten pounds due him per Account passed by the Audr Genl

Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to James Brice
Esquire three thousand pounds balance of his last years Salary.
That the said Treasurer pay to Athanasius Ford one hundred and
fifty pounds of the new Emission in lieu of sixty pounds specie for a
Horse sold Colo Lee's Corps per Certificates of A. McLane and
J. Bullen.
That the said Treasurer pay to Capt. Henry Gaither Twenty seven
pounds seven shillings and nine pence of the new Emission in lieu
of one thousand and ninety five pounds, nine shillings & eleven pence
of the same Emission in lieu of six hundred and nineteen pounds,
seventeen shillings and six pence due him per Accts passed by the
D. Audr

That the said Treasurer pay to Robert Roberts eighteen shillings
and nine pence of the same Emission in lieu of thirty seven pounds,
ten shillings per Account passed by the D. Audr
That the Issuing Commissary deliver to Charles Wheeler and
John Lane lately taken prisoners by the Enemy four Days provisions.
Philip Thomas Esquire appointed Lieutenant of Frederick County
Militia in the room of Baker Johnson resigned.
Philip Meroney appointed and Commissioned Cornet of Capt
Thomas's Troop of light horse in Frederick County raised in Virtue
of an " Act to encourage the raising a Volunteer Troop of light
Horse in Baltimore Town & each County of this State."
Whereas it appears to this Board from a Warrant issued by Philip
Thomas Esquire one of the Justices of the Peace for Frederick
County upon the Oath of Peter Adams that Thomas Wall resident
of Virginia hath travelled into this State without a pass and that he
