concur with you, we expect also to have a Vessel or two in Motion
from Baltimore in two or at most three Days, might it not be proper
if the Brigs can go on the Service that they should look into the
Mouth of Patuxent and if the Enemy is gone from thence to run
clown the Bay and wait so as to be below them till the Vessels from

tures. The enclosed are Signals which will be furnished to the
Baltimore Vessels and you will be pleased to give correspondent
orders.

Thursday 21st December 1780.

Ordered That the western shore Treasurer pay to Captain James
Somervill of the sixth Regimt five pounds five shillings and nine
pence of the new Emission in lieu of two hundred and eleven pounds
ten shillings due him for Stores p acct passed by the Depy Aud.
That the Issuing Commissary deliver to the said Capt James
Somervill seventeen and a half gallons of Rum, twenty nine and a
half pounds of Coffee and forty eight pounds of sugar due him to
the first of January next.
That the Commissary of Stores deliver to the said Capt. James
Somervill Cloth and Trimmings for a Suit of Cloaths and Liner
for two shirts, and also to James Murphy a maimed soldier of the
first Regiment one Suit of Cloaths one pair of stockings one pair
of shoes and two shirts.

[Council to Colonel James Wood.]

We received yours of the 15th and 17th Instant Mr Murdock by this
opportunity will receive £1000 which we hope will obviate the
Difficulties you have been involved in by the sheriffs not paying our
Orders, from your representation of Mr Gaddes's Conduct we should
be inclined to comply with Brigadier General Hamilton's request
but as he may transact his Business without going to Baltimore
himself, the Indulgence required is unnecessary.

[Council to Mr. George Murdock]

We send by Mr Potts £1000 of the new Emission to be expendedc
in the Purchase of Provisions for the convention Troops and have
ordered French Salt to be provided to load the eight Waggon
Colonel Wood was requested to send to Baltimore. If you should
be put to any Difficulties or meet with a Disappointment from the
Sheriff inform us, and we will do every Thing in our Power to
supply you with what may be necessary.
