will receive it. I am collecting what wheat I can to Mr Hemsleys
Mill to grind because the Vessels here will not carry it for the New
money, and as soon as it is ready will acquaint yr. Excel: that you
may order a State boat for it or direct me what to do. I can gett
Wheat here for Tobo if yr Excel: will send me orders to purchase
with that and at what price to sell the Tobo And an order for it in
case we can agree for the limitted price. All seem here willing to take
the new money if the Merchants will take it for them or the Assem-
bly will do something to give it credit I hope to receive a Supply by
Mr Hemsley when he comes over least the severity of the Weather
may prevent my getting it when necessary. I shall be glad to know
whether any wheat may be sent from Kent Island to Colo Sharps
Mill as it may save expence in sending craft for it when the ferry
boats will carry it at a less expence. I mentioned in my last that in
case I was to purchase pork it would be necessary to send Salt imme-
diately or an order to Mr Wederstrandt who has continental Salt
here. I have sent to Colo Hollingsworth what beef I have purchased.

[G. Murdock, Fred Town, to Gov. Lee.]
Sir I am Honor'd with yours of the 4th Instant and am sorry
to inform you that it will not be in my power to give Col Rawlings
much assistance, this Post being still continued and the Issues lately
pretty considerable so that the Stock I had on hand is much lessen'd.
Col Lees Cavalry have been here for several days past I had every-
thing necessary for them except Hay, which no person here was
authorized to purchase. However rather than they should suffer, I
undertook to procure for them and have promised the Farmers
payment in a few days, so that if you think proper, you'l be pleased
to send me the money by Col. Rawlings, I cant say what sum will
be sufficient at present, but suppose for Ten or Twelve Ton from
Thirty to Forty Dollrs p Hundred
