he informs me is to be replaced as it was the property of the French
Agent. I shou'd therefore thank your Excellency for an Order on
Mr Voorhees for the like quantity of Wheat or Flour, by which
means I shall be enabled to settle my Accots finally with Mr Hudson
or Mr William Smith of Baltimore Town.

I Hereby Certify that last february I seized Five hundred and Six
bushels of wheat from Colo William Henry whoe Purchased the said
Wheat on Account of Mr William Smith of Baltimore Town for
the French Marine, that I Ground the said Wheat which Produced
Seventy eight Barrels neat Weight One hundred & fifty four hun-
dred one Quarter and Twenty three pounds and that the said flour
was last March delivered to Colo Hollingsworth at the head of Elk
for the American Army.

Gentlemen I must beg Your Honours will be so good to allow
me seven days longer time having been disappointed by the Builder
in geting my Mast owing as he pretends to the bad weather I have
been to the Commissary of Prisoners to represent this to your
Honours but he is gone out of town therefore I have taken the
Liberty of giving your Honours this trouble wch I hope you will
excuse

Sir with regard to the Subscriptions you Desired me to Collect
I must Inform you that I live at a remote distance from those Gen-
tlemen you mention and Consequently had no oppertunity to Collect
them. But Docr Schnevely has promised to Collect and send them
as Quick as posable. Before and since you Wrote to me I have
done Every thing in my power to Serve you But without the Least
success was it not that I live in so remote a part of the County and
it so porely and thinly Inhabited I should be almost ashamed to
return you this answer, but that being the case I think I am Intitled
to your Excuse.

Sr Coll Skinner is Dead a field officer is Wanting for the Lower
Battalion of this County Majr Lyles of course I suppose will be pro-
moted to Lieut Coll & Capt. J. H. Beans I think will make a very,
good Majr

are some thing fallen off but in better plight than I expected, & more
