the House of Delegates of this Province, at the next General Assem-
bly to be held after the Purchase and Shipping of the Provisions
aforesaid, for the Service herein before mentioned.
And that the said Agents may receive a Reward for their Care
and Diligence, in the Execution of the Part herein of them required,
and which they are directed and appointed to perform; Be it further
Enacted by the Authority aforesaid, that the said Agents shall and
may retain and keep in their Hands, out of the said Sum of three
Thousand pounds, the Sum of five pounds per Hundred pounds for
every Hundred Pounds so laid out by them the said Agents, and
incident Charges ariseing in the Purchase of the Provisions afore-
said, and to and for the use and Purpose aforesaid, and by them
shipped according to the Direction of this Act.
And that the Public Faith and Credit of this Province may be
supported, and for the more effectual and speedy replacing and Re-
payment of the said Sum of three Thousand Pounds into the Office
of the Commissioners or Trustees for emitting Bills of Credit estab-
lished by Act of Assembly, Be it further Enacted by the Authority,
Advice, and Consent aforesaid, that from and after the End of this
Session of Assembly the Justices of each County in Court sitting,
be, and are hereby impowered and authorized, from Time to Time
as often as need shall require, to grant Licenses to such Person or

Persons as they shall think fit, being Persons of good Repute, to be
Ordinary Keepers and Inn holders, for keeping of Ordinaries and
Houses of Entertainment, in such and so many Places within their
several and respective Counties, for the Ease and Conveniency of
the Inhabitants, Travellers, and Strangers, as to them respectively
shall seem meet; for which Licenses the said persons that shall be
so licensed, to keep Ordinary as aforesaid, shall at the Time of his,
her or their taking such License, pay the several Sums following,
(that is to say) for every License to keep Ordinary in the City of
Annapolis, the sum of five Pounds Current money, and for every
License to keep Ordinary at any other Place within this Province, the
Sum of fifty shillings Current money, for every year such Person
shall keep Ordinary as aforesaid.
And be it further Enacted that during the Continuance of this
Act all Ordinary Licenses shall commence and be renewed at every
August Court, on pain that any Person or Persons then omitting or
neglecting to renew their License, and shall continue to sell Liquor
as an Ordinary Keeper, shall be liable to all the Penalties men-
tioned in this Act against Persons selling Liquors without License,
and it shall also be lawful for the Justices to refuse granting such
Persons Licenses for that year; and if they shall think fit to grant the
same at the next or other Court following, the said Ordinary Keep-
ers shall pay the full annual Charge for such License. Provided that
any Person not having before had a License to keep Ordinary, may
