The following ingrossed Address, Viz.
To his Excellency Thomas Bladen Esqre Governor of Maryland
The humble Address of the House of Delegates of the said
Province.
May it please your Excellency.
You not being pleased hitherto to give us an Answer to a former
Address of this House, requesting you would order to be laid before
us, by what Authority your Excellency and his Lordship's Council
have caused to be levied on the People of this Province, one Pound
of Tobacco per Poll, we humbly presume to renew our Application
to your Excellency for that Purpose. And we hope this Request will
be the more readily complied with, as it is the Desire of the whole
representative Body of the People of Maryland.
Being prepared, was ordered, on behalf of the House, to be signed
by the Honourable Speaker.
Mr Harris, and Dr Buchanan are sent to acquaint his Excellency,
that this House hath prepared an Address to him, and desires to
know when and where he will be pleased to receive it: They return
and acquaint Mr Speaker, that his Excellency will receive it imme-
diately in the Conference Chamber.
Col. Colvil, and Capt. Hopper sent to present the Address: They
return and acquaint Mr Speaker they have presented it,
The Bill entituled, a supplementary Act to the Act entituled, An
Act to enable Commissioners therein named, to lay out forty Acres
of Land into eighty Lots for a Town on Indian River &c sent to the
Upper House by Capt. Selby, and Capt. Outten.
Mr Sprigg added to the Committee of Aggrievances and Courts
of Justice.
On motion of the Chairman of the Committee of Aggrievances &
Courts of Justice Ordered, That the Clerk of this House issue Sum-
mons for Mr James Weems, the Revd Mr James Williamson, and
Henry Keene to attend the said Committee on Monday the 26th of
this Instant: And that he likewise issue Summons for Moses Par-
ran, to attend the said Committee at the same Time, and bring with
him the Execution awarded by Mr Thomas Ireland junior, a Magis-
trate of Calvert County, against a certain William Fowler. The
Serjeant ordered to inform William Fowler that he must attend
this House on Monday next.
William Stoughton Esqre acquainting the House, that he is in-
capable, through Indisposition, of attending his Duty as a Member
of the Committee of Aggrievances, and Courts of Justice, he is dis-
charged from that Service. And, Ordered, That Col. Hooper be
added to the said Committee.
The House adjourns to 2 of the Clock.
