Col. Dashiel and Capt Handy were sent to acquaint the Governor
this House hath prepared an Address to him and desires to know
when and where he will please to receive it. They Return and ac-
quaint Mr Speaker the Governor signified to them he was ready to
receive the Address immediately at his own House.
Col. Dashiel and Cap' Handy were sent to present the Address to
the Governor
On reading antd considering the Extract of the Letter from his
Grace the Duke of Newcastle to Governor Shirley and Commodore
Knowles and the Letter from Governor Shirley and Commodore
Knowles to the Governor of this Province the further Consideration
thereof was referred to the Morrow Morning.
The House adjourns 'til Tomorrow Morning 9 of the Clock.

Wednesday Morning, December 23. 1747

The House met according to Adjournment &c.
Upon further and mature Consideration of that Part of the Ex-
tract of the Duke of Newcastle's Letter transmitted by Governor
Shirley and Commodore Knowles to his Excellency the Governor
and laid before this House which relates to raising Money or Credit
for Payment of the Forces raised in this Province and transported
to Albany for His Majesty's Service in an intended Expedition
against Canada in Pursuance of a Letter of his Grace the Duke of
Newcastle's as Principal Secretary of State to the Governor of this
Province, dated Whitehall April 9. 1746. Resolved Nemine contra-
dicente, that inasmuch as this Province hath been at very great Ex-
pence in Encourageing the Inlistment of 300 Men for the said Service
maintaining them here, transported them to Albany in the Province
of New York and supplying them with Provisions there; and that
at present the people labour under very heavy Taxes and other
great Difficulties too tedious to enumerate: Therefore this House
cannot consistent with their Duty to their Constituents further
burthen them with the raising Money for Payment of the said
Forces.
And Ordered That Mr Philip Hammond Doctor Charles Carroll
Colo Hooper Mr Key and Mr Lloyd prepare an Address to his
Excellency the Governor acquainting him with the sense of this
House thereupon accordingly and that no further Business lies
before us.

Remonstrance and Petition of the Justices of Prince George's County
Court praying that an Act may pass to ascertain the Bounds be-
tween Prince George's County and Baltimore County and several
Petitions of the Inhabitants of Prince George's County praying
