p. 558

We can with great Sincerity assure your Excellency, that you
could not have more Satisfaction from our Readiness to join in an
Association, than we had in making that Declaration. But as the
Form of that signed by your Excellency, and sent down to our
House, was such, that we could not unanimously come into; we have
returned it back to the Upper House unsigned, and proposed a Con-
ference with the Members thereof, for the Drawing of such an one
as may be equally agreeable to the several Branches of the Legis-
lature.

Mr Key and Mr Stoddert ordered to acquaint his Excellency, that
this House hath prepared an Address to him, and desires to know,
when and where he will be pleased to receive it. They return and
acquaint Mr Speaker, his Excellency will be ready immediately to
receive it in the Council Chamber.
Mr Key, with four others, sent to present the Address: They
return and acquaint Mr Speaker they have presented it.
The House adjourns 'til To-Morrow Morning 9 of the Clock.
