Thursday Morning September 12, 1745
The House met according to Adjournment, and the Proceedings
of Yesterday were read.
The Clerk being ordered to proceed in Reading the Bill for laying
an Imposition on Tobacco for the Discharge of his Lordship's Quit
Rents &a A Question was put, Whether a Duty shall be laid on any
other Commodities than Tobacco? And the House being equally
divided, Mr Speaker gave his Voice for laying a Duty upon other
Commodities; which Resolved the Question in the Affirmative.
