This House met again according to Adjournment
Present as in the Morning
Read the second time the Bill entituled an Act for the Punish-
ment of Horse Stealers, and will pass with the following Amend-
ments, Add to the Title, and other Offenders, between the Words,
Clergy, and this, in first Line of second Page, insert the following
Clause, And Be it further Enacted that any Person or Persons who
shall after the Publication of this Act wilfully and designedly burn
any Ship or other Vessel Sloop Shallop or Boat of seventeen Keel
or upwards whether empty or laden and Ihe Aiders or Abettors of
such Offender or Offenders being thereof convicted or attainted by
due Course of Law shall suffer Death as a Felon or Felons without
Benefit of Clergy sent by Daniel Dulany Esqr
Read the second time the Bill entituled an Act for the more ef-
fectual Punishment of Negroes and other Slaves and for taking
away the Benefit of Clergy from certain Offenders, and to an Act
entituled an Act to prevent the tumultuous Meetings and other Ir-
regularities of Negroes and other slaves and directing the manner
of Trying of Slaves; and read the second time the Bill entituled
an Act to enable the Rector Vestrymen and Church Wardens of
Saint James's Parish in Anne Arundel County to lease Lands be-
longing to Saint James's Church in manner and to the Uses therein
mentioned, passed and sent by Samuel Chamberlain Esqr
An Engrossed Bill from the Lower House by Messrs King and
Gale Entituled an Act to enable Samuel Wilson Executor of Mar-
garett Lindow to convey certain Lands to David Wilson thus sub-
scribed
