Read the Second Time with the Amendments hereto annexed
will pass

Amendments to the Bill Entituled an Act for the Ease & En-
couragement of Settlers on the remote and back parts of this Prov-
ince Viz. In the first of the Title Instead of Settlers on the remote
and back parts of this Province put these Words Viz. Sundry In-
habitants within this Province.
After the word, Tobacco, in the third Line, put the Words, which
is thought a very great hardship on such Persons as do not by them-
selves Servants or Slaves make any Tobacco.
From the Word, and, Interlined between the Second and third
Line in Body of the Bill to the Word, Tobacco, in the Eleventh Line
be left out,
From the word, that, in the fourteenth Line of the first page, to
the Word, aforesaid, in the first Line of third page to be Left out.
From the Word, who, in the second Line of the third page to the
Word, and, Interlined between the Second and third Line in the
third page to be left out. From the Word Slaves, in the third Line
of the third Page to the word Limit, in the fourth Line of the third
page to be left out
From the Word, them, in the Seventh Line of the third page to the
Word, Certificate, in the same Line and Page to be left out.
The last two Lines in the third, and fourth line in the fourth page
to be left out.

By the Upper house of Assembly 13th May 1737
Gentlemen
This house being of Opinion that the Bill Entituled an Act for the
Ease and Encouragement of Settlers on the Remote and back parts
of this Province as Sent down from this house to your house would
if passed into a Law be of great Benefit and Advantage to the Prov-
ince in General and that the Amendments proposed by your house, so
much Alter & Change the Design of the Bill, that we cannot Concurr
