Record within this Province with Costs of suit.
An Act to Cut of the Entail of a Tract of Land Containing One
hundred and thirty acres Lying in Dorchester County being part
of a Tract of Land Called Goodridges Choice and to Entail in
Lieu thereof a Tract of Land Called the hope Containing fifty Acres
also another Tract Called the Addition to the Hope Containing
One hundred and Seventeen Acres both Lying in the said County
of Dorchester.
Whereas Andrew Gray of Dorchester County by his humble
petition to this General Assembly has set forth and shewn that he did
sometime ago Administer on the Goods and Chatties of his Father
Thomas Gray Late of Dorchester County Deceased who was Justly
Indebted Large Sums of Tobacco which the said Andrew who had
Lands of Sufficient Value (to Do the same) held himself in Equity
and Good Conscience bound to pay the several Creditors of the said
Deceased And to that End did readily pass his Own lands for several
Sums of Tobo more then the personal Estate of the said Thomas
Amounted to and in Order to Discharge the same Conceiving him-
self to be possessed with an Estate of Inheritance in fee simple of
and into a Tract of Land Containing One hundred and thirty acres
part of a Tract Called Goodridges Choice lying in Dorchester
County aforesaid Did for and in Consideration of the sum of four-
teen thousand pounds of Tobo make over and Convey unto a Cer-
tain Henry Hooper of the said County the said One hundred and
thirty acres in fee simple with Warranty against all persons what-
soever and also with many Covenants in the said Deed which the
said Andrew Apprehends may be very Detrimental to him for
that he had only an Estate Intail in the aforesaid Land so as afore-
said Conveyed to the said Henry Hooper And further that the said
Andrew is seized of a Tract of Land Called the hope Containing
fifty Acres also another Tract Called the Addition to the hope Con-
taining One hundred and Seventeen Acres lying in the said County of
Dorchester which said Two Tracts are of Equal Value to the said
Tract Conveyed to the said Henry Hooper and humbly prayed that
the Entail of the said Tract of One hundred and thirty Acres part
of Goodridges choice may be Cutt off and the said Tract Called
the hope Containing fifty Acres and the Tract Called the Ad-
dition to the hope Containing One hundred and Seventeen Acres
may be Entailed in the Room thereof and for that it Appears to
this General Assembly that the Several matters set forth in the
said Andrews Petition are Just Be it therefore Enacted by the
Right Honourable the Lord Proprietary by and with the Ad-
vice and Consent of his Lordships Governour and the Upper and
Lower Houses of Assembly and the Authority of the same that
