Monday Morning April 5th 1736.
The House met according to Adjournment all present Except
Mr Dulany.
The Bill to Indemnify such persons as have not paid their fines
for Not burning Tobacco &c. Read the second time and will not
pass.
A Bill Entituled an Act Enableing the Commissioners or Trus-
tees for Emitting the Bills of Credit to pay to the Representatives
of the Several Countys, The Sum of five hundred pounds Read first
and Second time by an Especial Order and passed.
The Bill Entituled an Act for the Payment of a Sum of money To
Andrew Ramsay &c. Read Second time Passed and Sent to the
Upper House by Mr Trippe and Mr Goldsborough.

A Bill Entituled an Act for Building a Publick Goal in Annapolis
and to defray The Expence thereof Read first time and ordered to
Lye on the Table.
Mr Mathews from the Committee of Agrievances &c. Delivers
to Mr Speaker The following Report.
By the Committee of Aggreivances and Courts of Justice 5th
April 1736. Your Committee having Examined The Returns made
from the Justices of the Several County Courts relateing to the
State of their records, Pursuant to an order from his Excellency
the Governour in Council do find That by the Return of the Justices
from St. Marys County their records begin with the year 1658 that
Several of their Books want binding parts of Some want Tran-
scribing and some have lost leaves that from August Court 1725
to June Court 1728, the proceedings are not Entered up Except the
Same June Court which is Entered in a paper Book without a Cover
in pretty good Repair that Michl Jenifer was Clerk of St Marys
County in those years that the papers are regularly Wrapt together
and in Tolerable good Condition that from the Year 1730 to this
Present time Mr Thomas Brook being Clerk the proceedings are
not entered but The Papers since that time are in good order.
That by the Return of the Justices from Charles County their
records Appear to be in good order and repair Except some of the
oldest Books worn out by time and use
That by the Return of the Justices from Ann Arundell County
their records Appear to be Regularly Entered till the year 1722
Except part of August most Part of November and all March Courts
that in the year 1723 June Court Judgments are Entered but Novem-
ber, and March Courts in the same year, and also June August
