with such Conveniences as may render Imprisonment Tolerable and
not add Either Death or Torments to the Loss of Liberty.
Your Committee propose the Building a Substantial Brick Prison
Sixty Feet long from out to out Twenty two feet wide from out to
out and Two Stories High with an Entry thro' the Building Ten
feet wide and Party walls to make Separate Apartments and Inside
Chimnies and the Stairs to be Carried up from the Back Part of the
Entry.
That there be Two Rooms above Stairs with a fire place in Each
of them Divided by an Entry of Ten feet wide and Party Walls.
That there be a Room or Dungeon, about Ten or Twelve feet
Square under the first Entry or some other part that may be thought
more Convenient to Confine Condemned Malefactors in
That the Walls of the Building be Twenty feet Pitch, and the
Pitch of the Rooms proportionable
That there be a walk Twenty feet wide to the front of the building
and the whole Length thereof Substantially walled in with good
Brick or Stone Twelve feet in Heighth and several Windows with
Strong Iron Barrs: and that there be a pump in Some part of the
walk and a Bench at Each End of it.
Your Committee also propose that the Garretts be Compleatly
finished and Divided as, Other Parts of the Building are proposed
to be to Serve Instead of a work House or House of Correction

demnify all persons that Incurred the Penalty for not burning To-
bacco according to the Directions of the Paper Currency Act.
The Bill Entituled an Act to remedy Some Defects in an Indenture
of Bargain and Sale from Michl Curtis and Sarah &c. Read the
Second time by an Especial order and passed, Sent to the upper
House by Mr Mathews and Mr Middleton.
