An Ingrossed Bill Entituled an Act to Supply some Defects in an
Act Entituled an Additional & Supplementary Act to the Several
Acts for the Administration of Justice in Testamentary affaires read
assented to and Sent to the Upper House by Majr Jourdan & Mr
Hawkins.

The Journal of Accounts read and assented to and sent to the
Upper House by Col King and four more.
An Act to Enable Vachel Denton late Clerk of the Provincial
Court to Record and Enter up the Proceedings of that Court which
were Omitted to be done dureing his Continuance in the said office
and to require and Direct the Justices of the several and respective
County Courts within This Province to Lay a State of the Order &
Condition the Records and Proceedings of their said Courts are in
before the next General Assembly, Read the first and Second time by
Especial Order passed and sent to the Upper House by Mr Key &
Mr Courts.
The Governour Communicated the following Answer to the Ad-
dress of this House.

Gentlemen of the Lower House of Assembly.
In Answer to your Address Delivered to me on Saturday last I
can truly assure you that I shall be heartily pleased if any expe-
dient can be found to alter the Terms of payment of the Quit Rents
and alienation Fines in Such Manner as may be both satisfactory
to his Lordship and More for the Ease and Advantage of the Prov-
ince than the present Method of Collecting them And you May
Depend upon My good Offices on this and all Other Occasions
wherein the good of the Country is Concerned, However as it is
Uncertain how far a further Duty on Tobacco may be thought Con-
sistent with Our Trade and Interest it is Certainly Incumbant on
every body to provide themselves in Time with Money after the best
and Easiest Manner they are able, The Neglect of which Lays poor
People open to Impositions and May be more greivous than the
Rents themselves.
