Gentlemen
The Right Honourable the Lord Proprietary having Communi-
cated to this House the Petition of Several the Clergy of this Prov-
ince, We have herewith Sent you the said petition for your
Consideration

To the Right Honourable the Lord Proprietary of the Province
of Maryland

May it please Your Lordship
We your Dutifull Clergy being Informed that for the good and
Benefit of your Tenants, it is Intended that a Paper Currency shall
be Emitted; That it is the General Opinion, it would tend to the Pub-
lick Advantage, if the Clergy would take their Allowance in it, at
the Rate the Public Officers do
As there are none of your Tenants that more Sincerely Desire the
Prosperity of your province, than Your Clergy do; so they humbly
Inform your Lordship that they are willing to Accept their forty p
poll at Ten Shillings p Hundred Provided it be made Certain in
that Specie, and that their Constitution be preserved entire without
Alteration (Saving the Exchange of the Specie) And they Humbly
