Session of Assembly, after the Expiration of the said One Year.

An Act for the Relief of Anthony Parker, Patrick Ryely & Cleborn
Lomax Languishing Prisoners in Charles County Goal

Whereas the said Anthony Parker by his Humble Petition to this
Generall Assembly hath set forth that In March Anno Domini One
thousand Seven hundred & thirty he was Committed to the Custody
of the Sherriff of Charles County on Suspition of a Rape upon
which an Indictment Was sent to the Grand Jury & by them found
Ignoramus but that whilst the Jury had the sd Indictmt Under their
Consideration the sd Anthony Parker broke Prison & Endeavoured
to make his Escape but was Soon Retaken by the Shirriff of Charles
County & was tried & Convicted for breakin the said Goal & fined
for the Same & the said Cleborn Lomax & Patrick Ryley by their
humble Petition to this General Assembly have also set forth that
they were Severally Convicted of felony & that They the sd An-
thony Parker Patrick Ryley & Cleborn Lomax have Continued
a long time in Prison for fees that arose due to the Several Officers
on the Prosecutions against them for the said Crimes & Still Con-
tinue in the like Deplorable Circumstances not being Able to redeem
Their bodies with all the Estate or Interest they have in the World
which they would readily Surrender up & part with as well for Pay-
ing their Several Other Creditors as the sd fees if they Would
Accept of the Same & Grant the sd Petitioners their Liberty which
seems So Unlikely for them to Obtain (Unless relieved by a par-
ticular Act to be Passed in their Favour which by their said Petitions
they Have Humbly prayed) they must Inevitably Continue Pris-
oners For Life & thereby their familys utterly ruined & for that the
truth of the sd Petitioners Allegations is made Appear to this
Present General Assembly by Sufficient Testimony & that The
said Petitioners & their familys are Objects of Charity & that their
lying in Goal can Be no benefit to their Creditors it is humbly
prayed that the said Petitioners may be relieved According to their
Prayer & that it may be Enacted And be it Enacted by the right
Honourable the Lord Proprietary by & with the advice & Consent
of the upper & Lower Houses of Assembly & the Authority of the
Same that unless all or Any of the Creditor or Creditors of the said
Anthony Parker Patrick Ryley & Cleborn Lomax or the Creditor or
Creditors of Any or Either of them or the Attorney or Attorneys
of such Creditor or Creditors aforesaid within this Province shall
within twenty Days after the End of this Session of Assembly go
to the Sherriff of the aforesd County of Charles and Give good
Security to pay the Imprisonment fees at the Sum of Ten pounds of
Tobacco Per Day that shall or may become due from the said An-
