Sent to the Lower House By Col Richard Tilghman.
The House adjourns untill to morrow nine a Clock

Tuesday Morning October the 18th 1720

Col Richd Tilghman James Bowles Esqr

Col Richard Tilghman says that he has Delivered the bill
for repealing the Act prohibitting the Importation of Bread
&c. and the Petn of Thomas Mannying Order'd to be sent down
to the Lower house Last night by him
Mr Phil Lee with three others from the Lower House De-
liver Col Holland the following Message, Viz.

By the Lower House of Assembly October the 18th 1720

May it please your Honours. On Considering the third
Article of the Governours Instruction Communicated to us
And in Answer to your Message of the 14th Instant by Col
Young & Col Addison & to Demonstrate as well, our Readiness
to Embrace this Favourable Opportunity offered by their
Lordships for the propagation of Learning as to Shew our
Respect to his honour the Govr and the great hopes and Ex-
pectations we have of his Honour's Good Government.
We have resolved that the Sume of three half pence p hhd

be raised on all Tobacco Exported out of This Province, to be
Applyed to the Use of Free Schools to be Erected in the sev-
erall Countys wthin this Province in the same manner as The
Twenty shills Current money p poll on negroes is applied And
have also Resolved, That the Sume of three halfe pence more
be raised for the Use of his honour the Governour (if he shall
be pleased to accept Thereof) to Continue till the 29th day of
Sept next
With wch if your house Concurrs a bill may be prepared
Accordingly
