By the Lower house of Assembly Aprill the 22d 1720
May It please your Honrs

U.H.J.

Both houses of Assembly haveing Agreed that John Peter
Zenger should print the Laws of Each Sessions for the Sev-
erall Countys and Provll Court &c We apprehend It would be
to great a Burthen to the Country to pay both the Chancellor
and Printer for them

His Excellency proposes to this house to Address his Maj-
esty haveing never yet had any Answer of former Addresses
made to his Majesty that they were presented
To which Proposall this House make Answer that they
shall readily pceed to the prepareing such Address in Concert
with the Lower house if they think fit to concurr therein, if
not to Prepare one Seperate

By the [Upper] House of Assembly
Aprill the 22d 1720
Gentl. On his Excellency's Proposall we have Agreed to
Address his Majesty And Desire yor house to Joyne with us in
preparing the same

Sent to the Lower house by Col Holland Col Young and
Esqr Hall who return & say they have delivered the same.
Mr Lee with five Others from the Lower House with the
following Message.

May It please Your Honrs
We are not a little Surprized at his Excys Proposalls and
your Honrs Concurrence in proposeing to this house an Ad-
dress to his Sacred Majesty at a Juncture of time when we
might reasonably have Expected to have returned to our
Familys in Order to Consult their Welfare haveing been long
Detained here without being Able to do any great Service to
our Country and many of our Membrs sick and Absent And
as we Enjoy what we may or Can reasonably desire And
having frequently sett forth our great Satisfacon under the
Protection of the Best of Kings and having nothing to ask of
his Majesty as we Can perceive at this time We desire to be

Excused.
