The Upper House. 499

generally (not only approved but) applauded by all those here
that are really well wishers to his Majesty's Succession And
the Protestant Interest; But as in all the Governments we
Know there are some malcontents, so in this there are some
Jacobites and Papists. The former of these whatever Zeale
they profess for the Church We still find most Sedulous Ad-
herents to the Latter in all matters of remark wherein they
disapprove you And we are Sorry to acknowledge it more than
probable that some of his Majestys faithful Protestant Sub-

U.H.J.

jects may have Slipt into a precipitancy of Judgment by the
false Insinuation of these ill Principled men. But if those
that are so Abused into Misunderstanding will please to make
an Impartiall inquiry, we are Confident they will not fail to
Joyn with us in Opinion that they who affront and Spurn at
your Excy and Others in Authority here are Generally of the
same party and Faction with those in Great Brittain that In-
deavour to disturb his Majesty's most Glorious Reign.
It is with much Concern that we observe the machinations
of these dissatisfied men should so farr influence your Excys
Affairs as Even to Incline you to leave us, And tho by this
they seem to gain a point, yet we hope your Justice and Fidel-
ity will so Evidently appear to his Majesty and the Lord Propry
that we may still have the pleasure to see Them faithfully
Served and this Province happily Governed by the Continu-
ance of your Excys Admrcon which for their Honr and our
Countrys Welfare we are bound to pray for
Signed p Order John Beale Cl. Up Ho.
