James Stoddert Esqr with Eleven Others from the Lower
House deliver his Excy an Address of that House to his Ex-
cellency's Speech which being Read is ordered to be Entered
And is as follows Viz.
The Humble Address of the Lower
House of Assembly
May It please your Excellency.
Whatever the Motives have been that Determined their
Lordships to Prorogue the Assembly to this Time (which
Doubtless were weighty) we think it our Indispensible Duty
to return to your Excellcy our thankfull Acknowledgmt of the
repeated Instances your Excy has Given us from the time of
your first Arrivall of your great Care and Concern for the
good Governmt and welfare of this Province so for Giveing
us the opportunity in pursuance of their Lordships' Appoint-
ment for Concerting those important affairs your Excellency
has been pleased to recomend to us in your Speech to both
houses at the opening of this Session of Assembly which so
much respects the good Government and Welfare of his
Majesty's good Subjects here which we have very much at
Heart and shall Apply ourselves with our Utmost Care and
Diligence to the Consideration thereof.
And particularly the Act Intituled an Act ascertaining the
Gauge and Tare of Tobo hhds &ca which Contains so many
things Essentiall to the Honr and Interest of His Lordship
And the Ease and Prosperity of this Province shall be duly
Considered by us in all its branches and we shall readily Joyn
