To His Excellency Horatio Sharpe Esqr Governor of Mary-
land, and the Honourable Members of his Lordship's Council.

The humble Petition of William Ireland Clerk of Calvert
County Sheweth. That he hath had a Complaint preferred
against him, before Your Excellency and Honours for Male
Conduct in his Office of Clerk of said County, by a certain Ed-
ward Talbot; and hath had Notice a few Days past that the
same is to be heard on Thursday next, on Affidavits to be

taken by each Party. But your Petitioner is apprehensive that

he cannot Safely go into a Justification of his Conduct; with-
out the Testimony of Mess" John Rogers, and James Key,
two of the Attorneys of said County Court, which he can't get,
(they being necessarily called off by their Attendance on other
Courts) until the Week of Calvert County Court; Your Peti-
tioner therefore prays Your Excellency and Honours to take
the Premisses into Consideration, and allow him further time
to clear up his Conduct, the same being to him a matter of

the utmost Importance. And your Petitioner will pray &c.
Ordered thereupon, that the Hearing upon the Petition of
Edward Talbot against the said William Ireland, which was
appointed to have been on Thursday next be postponed until
Monday the 27th of this Instant June, And that the Clerk give
Notice thereof to the Parties.

At a Council held at the Governor's on Tuesday the 7th Day
of June in the Eighteenth Year of His Lordship's Dominion
Anno Domini 1768.

His Excellency was pleased to lay before this Board the fol-
lowing Letter from General Gage, and Extract from a Letter
from the Lords of Trade to the Earl of Shelburne, which
were ordered to be Entered.

Having received a Letter from the Secretary of State, ac-
quainting me that His Majesty's Orders have been Signified
to Sr William Johnson, to complete the boundary Line between
the Several Provinces and the Indians, I take the earliest Op-
portunity of making known to you his Majesty's Intentions in
