Lord Clive has the red Ribbon, made comandr of Chief and
Genl of all his Majesty's forces in the East Indies, some
regimts go with him & many Voluntiers of Rank, he is ap-
pointed sole Govr & Comr by the East India Compy with
Large Sallary 'tis said the Compy has purchased the Nabob's
gift to him of £30000 pr ann. for his Life abt £30000. he is
well to be stiled Fortunatus. Ld Hallifax has the Blue
Garter, much talk of Regimtl Colonels to be dismissed.

It is His Majesty's Pleasure that you do constantly trans-
mit to me every Information, which your utmost Diligence &
Attention can, from time to time, procure, in relation to the
illicit Trade, which may be carried on within Your Govern-
ment; to the Methods, in which it is concerned; and the
Extent, to which it is carried; the Means of preventing the
same; and the Conduct of the several Officers, who are em-
ployed for that purpose. And whenever it shall happen that
you have not been able to procure any Intelligence upon any
of the Points abovementioned, you will take care to mention
in your Dispatches that you have no Informations of that
sort to communicate.

many, the 12 of Octr he says he shall be at Cattes in ten days.
