Sent to the Council by Mr Woolford and Mr Brookes who
return & say they delivered the same.
Samuel Young and John Hall Esqrs enter the House and
deliver Mr Speaker a Law relating to the ffines on Ordinary
Licenses and the following Message Viz.
By the Honble President and Council in Assembly
Nov. 11th 1713
We have received your Message by Major Sprigg and five
others and tho' we cannot but think it very strange you
should refuse the Conferrence desired by this Board for want
whereof we find you persist in the Mistake asserted in your
Address to her Majesty relating to the ffines on Ordinary
Licenses yet we cannot believe we ought, notwithstanding your
Desire to press us, no further neglect giving you to under-
stand, that altho' you have averred that the said Fines on
Ordinary Licenses were, always Temporary and reserved in
the Power of the Country to dispose of the Law therefore
never having been perpetual, we find there was a perpetual
Law made Anno 1695 appropriating the said Fines to the
Secretary of this her Majesty's Province of Maryland for the
Time being and send you the said Law for your Perusal where-
fore we desire you to consider whether such an Address will
become the Reputation of your House for which you may
perceive we have no small Regard
