above being accountable to your House but the Inconvenien-
cies hinted from his being so are barely imaginary when the
publick Stock is overdrawn in the Treasurers Hands Scarce
any will advance their own mony without some reasonable
Consideration therefore We have no objection to Mr Young's
Integrity or Diligence, Yet if you are fully resolved to recom-
mend new Treasurers upon your Offering fit & proper Persons
for that Trust we shall be ready to concur with you
Signed p order W Bladen Cl. Coun.

Sent to the house by Col Greenberry & Col Whittington
Col Macall & Seven others brought up Viz.

By the House of Delegates
November the 4th 1713

The Message yesterday by Col Holland Col Ennalls & Col
Tilghman we have read & considered as to such part thereof
as relates to Sr Thomas Lawrence in answer to the Honble
Presidents Speech at the opening this Session We assured you
that we should pay a due regard to her Majesty's order relat-
ing to Sr Thoss Lawrences Claims & should examine the
Journals and Proceedings of former Assemblys in reference
thereto and give your Honours a true State of the Case which
we expected would have satisfied as to our Intentions
We are very sorry your Honours have no more regard for
us than to distrust our Integrity in any thing we say (and
saving the Liberty and Priviledges of our House which we
take by that Message to be infringed) We acquaint your
Honours why we have not yet laid the same before you as
followeth Viz.

p. 829

We have ever since had a Committee out to examine into
the same and report their opinion therein to the House that
we may consider thereof and lay the same before your Hon-
ours but the Records Journalls & Papers by that Officers
neglect carelessness or design are so damnifyed imbezelled or
mislaid that It gives us abundance of Trouble in the Case &
hinders our accomplishing the same so soon as we could wish
We shall always be ready to pay a dutiful & awful deference
to her Majesty's Commands & Shew ourselves dutiful &
Loyal Subjects & cannot doubt of meeting her Majesty's Grace
and favour in any reasonable thing we desire notwithstanding
the false Suggestion of any one when her Majesty is made
