Read the third Time and will pass with the Amendmt that
Dog Dollars be Currt at 5sh.

The same Bill being thus Endorsed Viz,

By the Council in Assembly Decr 8th 1708.

The Endorsement of your House proposing that Dog Dol-
lards be current at five shift will be flat in the Face of the Act
of Parliament of England & a snare to her Majesty's Subject's
here who will be lyable to the Imprisonmt & forfeiture by
the sd Act for receiving them at any rate above one third of
the intrinsick value notwithstanding any law we can make in
this Province Wherefore we cannot Consent thereto

And was sent to the House by Col Young
Mr Mariartee and five more bring up the following message

By the House of Delegates Decr 8th 1708

May it please your Excell
We humbly beg leave to acquaint your Excell that it is re-
ported to this House as an aggrievance that the Restriction or
Limitation of the Commission of the County Courts not to hear
tryeor determine to give Judgement any Action forany greater
Sum than ten thousand pounds of Tobo
or fifty pounds sterl
is the Cause of many Actions being brought in the Provincial
Court which might be heard & determined in the County
Courts for half the Cost and much sooner come to a deter-
mination for Plaintiff & Deft's Advantage. Therefore humbly
desire your Excell to issue new Commissions to the Several
Counties impowering the Justices to hear and determine all
Actions of what nature soever excepting the Titles of Land or

Criminal Cases Extending to life or member which can be no
prejudice to the Suitors as long as they have Liberty of Ap-
peals and bringing Writts of Error

The Board adjourned till ten of the Clock to morrow morning

December the 9th 1708.

Resolved the following Answer be sent to the Houses Mes-
