Mr Taylard and four other members bring from the house
the following message

By the House of Delegates

8ber 2d 1704
May it please your Excy

Having an entire Dependance that your Excy has given us
of your Resolutions to Govern us according to Law and Pre-
serving us in our rights and Propert'" and your Willingness
to assent to what may be reasonably Proposed for the Ease
and Welfare of this Province we have proposed to present
your Excy with thirty Pounds yearly to defray the Charge of
your house Rent while your Excy Continues your Government
and Residence in this Province which we Pray you to accept
and understand us Candidly in all Things

The Board adjourns 'till eight of the Clock to morrow

Tuesday October the 3d 1704
Council Sate Present as yesterday

Major Greenberry Mr Leech and Mr James bring up the
Bill for officers fees their limitation, & the following to agree
to the said Bill

By the House of Delegates October the 3d 1704

We have considered the reasonableness of the Surveyours
Fees as regulated by the Bill and finding them most just and fit-
ting cannot Consent to any alteration the former Settlement in
that Point being Experienced to have been oppressive to the
People and a great Aggrievance and Several Persons now in
this Province that have been and are in that Employment being
sensible of the Justice thereof are Content therewith and we
pray your Honours to Consider of and Concur with us that
the Law may not be laid aside to the great Inconveniency of
the Country
