of her Matys royall Instructions for raising further Supplys for
defraying the publiq Charge of this Province To Effect which
the Burgesses and Delegates of this present Generall Assembly
do humbly pray that her Majesty will graciously be pleas'd to

grant tht it may be enacted and
Be it enacted by the Queens most excellent Majesty by and
with the Advice and Consent of her Majestys Governour
Councill and Assembly of this Province and the Authority of
the same That from and after the publication hereof The
Justices of each County be and are hereby empowered and
Authorized from time to time as often as need shall require to
grant Licenses to such person and persons as they shall think
fitt to be ordinary Keepers and Inholders for the keeping of
Ordinarys and Houses of Entertainment so long time and in
such and so many places within their severall and respective
Countys for the ease and Conveniency of the Inhabitants
Travellers and Strangers as to them respectively shall seem
meet. For which lycenses the said persons that shall be so
lycens'd to keep Ordinary as aforesaid shall at the time of his
and their taking such Lycenses enter into Recognizance to
our Sovereign Lady the Queens Majesty to pay unto her
Majesty towards the Defraying the Charge of the County the
Severall and respective Summs following that is to say ffor
every Lycense to keep Ordinary in the Citty of Saint Marys
Towns or Ports of Annapolis or Williamstadt or at any County
Court house within this Province the Sume of twelve hundred
pounds of Tobacco and four hundred pounds of Tobacco at
every other place within this Province for every year such
person shall keep Ordinary as aforesaid to the use aforesaid
for which said Lycense and Recognizance the party or partys
taking the same shall pay to the Clark of each respective
County Court the sume of Sixty pounds of Tobacco and no
more.
And be it further Enacted by the Authority aforesaid that
the Justices of the severall County Courts Be and are hereby
authorized & Impowered at their severall County Courts in

the months of January and August yearly and every year
having Sumon'd each respective Ordinary Keeper within their
respective Countys then and there to sett and assess the Rates
and prizes of all Liquors and other Accomodations whatso-
ever by them the said Ordinary Keepers to be vended for the
year ensuing and so yearly and every year. Which rates and
prizes of all liquors so to be sett and assessd limitted and
appointed by the Justices aforesaid shall be by their severall
and respective Clarks Transcribed and sett up at their Severall
and respective County Courts in some publiq Places there
that every person or persons may peruse the same the Copy
