90 Proceedings of the Council of Maryland, 1700.
Lib. X. Servants or Slaves such Satisfaction as an English man ought to do in the like case 7thly That the said Izingoughousiowaugh shall not make
any new peace with our Enemys nor shall make any War without the Consent of the Govr of this Province for the time being In case the said Izingoughsiowaugh or any Indian p. 242 Subject to her shall kill any Indians or any other in peace & amity with his said Majty it shall be esteemed as great an Offence as killing an English man 9thly That neither the said Izingoughsiowaugh nor any of the Indians under her Subjection do at any time here after keep harbour or entertain amongst them or within their Fort any Foreign or strange Indians or know or dis cover such to appear or come into this Province without giving timely & all Possible & Speedy Notice thereof to his Excellency the Governor or some other Officer a Person of Note by whom the same may be communicated with all Expedition to the said Govr or Govr of this Province for the time being for his Advice & Directions therein 10thly That as a further Testimony of their League Peace & Friendship with his Majesty & as they Expect Protection from him & his Govt here there be paid by the said Izingoughtiowaugh as a Tribute to his said Majesty an Indian Bow & two arrows to be delivered to his Excellency the Governor or the Governor for the time being at his resi dence wheresoever the same shall happen to be on the first tuesday in April in every year Successively 11thly And lastly as a full & ample Proof of and Assur ance of the said Queens Fidelity truth & sincerity she does solemnly promise engage & oblige her self with her Indians within two months time to come and live at Pomunckey & p. 243 that she will do her utmost endeavour to perswade & oblige all her Indians to Live there Likewise in confirmation whereof his said Excellency the Governor and likewise Chixenehat husband to the said Queen and Colo James her Speaker and Plenepotentary do mutually sign acknowledge & deliver to each other these present Articles this 9th day of April 1700 Sig S Chixenehatt N Blakiston Col E James
Ordered upon the Indians coming in that Collo Smallwood supply them with ten Barrels of Indian Corn until such time as the Assembly meets & other Measures are taken
