Maryland.
That the letter of the clergy of Maryland to the Archbishop of Canterbury be the principal direction touching the state of the church there as now setled And that it be imparted to the Bishop of London and to Dr Thomas Bray who is also to be informed by me of the state of his own affairs. To acquaint him that Monsieur Moreau in Calvert County is unfit for his employment and Mr James Clayland in Talbot scandalous and not qualified. And that if they are remov'd there will not be wanting above three ministers more to sup ply the Country since 4000 Taxables raising 16000 l Tobacco yearly is the least maintenance that can be allowed to one minister. The Sheriffs salary of 5 per cent for collecting and the clerk of the parish his allowance being to be deducted out of it, so that in severall places two livings must be served by one Parson.
