                   480 Proceedings of the Council of Maryland, 1727.

             

              Lib. x. To morrow sen night the Court goes into Mourning for

                  Twelve months for the late King his Majesty has Ordered

                  that the men wear Buttons on their Coats & Wastecoats down

                  to the Waste and the Sleeves and pocketts to be plain

             

             

                               Boston Gazette

                         Boston August the 21st 1727

                    On Monday last the 14th Instant arrived here Captain Sam

                  uel Carey in seven weeks passage from London by whom we

                  have the following Intelligence in the publick prints vizt

             

             

                              London June 16th

                    We hear that his late Majesty King George was very much

                  Indisposed after he Landed in Holland thrô the Fatigue of his

                  passage by Sea but being very desirous to finish his Journey

                  without making any Considerable Stay upon the Road he

                  Travelled after the Rate of one hundred and fifty miles a day

                  and would not take Regular Rest or Refreshment on thurs

                  day he was very ill Again on Friday something better and

                  eat his Dinner heartily but afterwards Grew very ill and was

                  Blooded upon the Road on Saturday he reached Osnabrug

                  where he died about three a Clock on Sunday morning at his

              p. 183 Brothers palace the Duke of York

             

             

                              London June 17th

                    On Wednesday last between three and four a Clock in the

                  afternoon Mr Crewoner of his Majestys Messengers arrived

                  here Express with the melancholy News that our late most

                  Gracious Sovereign King George died last Sunday of a fit

                  of an Apoplexy in the 68th year of his Age and 13th of his

                  Reign

                    Sir Robert Walpole who first received this news at Chelsea

                  went with it Immediately to the Prince and Princess of Wales

                  at Richmond who thereupon came from thence to Leicester

                  House whither the Lords of the Privy Council were Sum

                  moned and signed a Proclamation for Proclaiming his Royal

                  Highness King of these Realms

                    The Proclamation is as follows

             

                    Whereas it hath pleased Almighty God to call to his mercy

                  our late Sovereign Lord King George of blessed memory

                  by whose decease the Imperial Crowns of Great Britain
