                  438 Proceedings of the Council of Maryland, 1724/5.

             

              Lib. X.   will always support us and every other Magistrate in the

                  Course of our duty against the Frivolous Complaints of such

                  as shall endeavour to traduce us in Confidence of this we

                  subscribe ourselves

                    Ordered that the said Moale and Russell be sent for to

                  attend this Board immediately

              

             

             

                  By the Governor and Council Jany 2d 1724

             

                    You are hereby required to attend this Board in Order to

              Support your Petition and to Offer what you have further to

              say in relation thereto

               To Mr John Moale             Sign'd p Order

                Capt D Russell               Geo: Plater Cl Con.

             

             

               p.  123 Upon Considering the Petition and the Answer thereto

                  which was read to the petitioners and having heard the Alle

                  gations of both parties and for that it is alledged by the Mag

                  istrates of the Corporation in their answer that they did not

                  take up or Commit those persons (as Convicts and Conse

                  quently persons of evil fame) by any Law of their own mak

                  ing but what they did was by virtue of their duty as Magis

                  trates and according to Law

                    Therefore this Board are humbly of Opinion that if they

                  have Acted Contrary thereto the Petitioners have their Proper

                  Remedy at Law to which they are Referred

                    Which is Ordered to be endorsed on the said petition and

                  to be delivered to the Factors of the said Forward
