388 Proceedings of the Council of Maryland, 1722.

Superscrib'd to his Excellency Charles Calvert Esqr Gov ernor of Maryland Upon reading the aforesaid Letter his Excellency ask'd the Board whether they Concurred in opinion with Mr Attorney General assuring them at the same time that he had nothing of moment to lay before the Assembly and that the proroga tion of the same would be a great ease to the province, in answer to which this Board says that they do Concur with Mr Attorney General in his Opinion, and that in pursuance thereof his Excellency may prorogue the Assembly to another day than that to which the Writ is returnable p. 43 And thereupon came to the following Resolutions V1Zt that the 9th day of October being the second tuesday of that month will be a proper time to prorogue the Assembly to That Instructions be given to the Sheriffs of the respective Counties of this province to give personall Notice to the Members of the Assembly that they are then required to meet to proceed on Business without delay and That writs of Prorogation reciting the Writs of Election issue immediately directed to the several Sheriffs of this province and to be published by them in the most publick manner and That the writt of prorogation directed to the high Sheriff of Ann Arundell County be read publickly to morrow in the Council Chamber in the presence of his Excellency and such members of the upper and Lower house as shall then be in Town To all which Resolutions his Excellency Concurs His Excellency having communicated a paragraph of a Letter from Colo Alexander Spotswood Governor of Virginia signifying his intended Iourney to Albany in order to meet the Indians there in Company with Sir William Keith Gov ernor of Pennsylvania to adjust all differences between them and to settle a lasting peace with said Indians and desiring to know whether his Excellency woud meet him there to those purposes and having desired the Opinion of this Board thereon In answer this Board say they are of Opinion that having so lately renewed our former Treaties with the said Indians p. 44 and being in perfect peace and Amity with them it is no way necessary that his Excellency should take so long a Iourney but that his Excellency be desired to write to Colo Spotswood and Sir William Keith to desire them to include this province in the Treaties they shall make with the said Indians & to assure them on our behalf that it is our firm Resolution to fulfil every Article of the peace so lately renewed between us and them
