X. only John Thomas his wife and Children in the house that Mr Kelton told her he came by virtue of a power from the pro vincial Court of Maryland to give this deponent possession of that house and Land and desired her to go out of the house, she replied that she would not go out, whereupon Mr Kelton told her he must take her out by force And Com manded Edward Veazey in her Majestys name to Assist him then Mr Kelton took hold of one of her arms and Veazey of the other and led her out of the house she then cried out murther and Mr Kelton told her that he would not hurt one hair of her head but as he was Commanded by the higher powers to give this deponent quiet possession he must do it and accordingly remove the Children out of the house and gave this deponent quiet Possession of it that John Thomas his wife went away and in about an hour and a half came p. 21 again with about twenty welch Men with her who had great Clubs in their hands & with threatning speeches Confined and kept this deponent in the house but after sometime let Mr Kelton Veazey and Willinger go about their Business who went as this depont understood to David Evans and lay there that night, that the next day Colo French came from New Castle with about forty men well Arm'd and took this deponent and Mr Kelton Veazey and Willinger who were come again to John Thomas's and carried them prisoners to New Castle that upon the road this deponent meeting a neighbour of his desired Colo French to stop that he might send a Note to his Wife that Colo French did stop and this deponent got Mr Willinger to write to his Wife to go to Mr Charles Carrolls and acquaint him with his Circumstance that his wife went to Mr Carroll who applied himself to Gov ernnr Seymour that Governor Seymour wrotc to the Gov ernor of Pennsylvania that thereupon they were discharged out of the Custody of the Sheriff of New Castle after having been confined four days at New Castle And further saith not his
