     The Governor presents to Annatoquin two Stroud Match         Lib. X.

    coats that is to say one for himself and the other for Pan-

    quash a Great man of the said Nanticokes in Return of their

    Belt of Peak and in token that we are all friends having

    presented the Senequas yesterday

     The Senequas likewise tell the Governor they heartily

    thank him for sending them by water to Virginia and that if

    any Gust or harm shoud happen to them they shoud not lay

    it at the Governors Door but take it upon themselves

     On further discourse with the Indians Interpreters they say

    they did not tell us that the Indians that killd their people

    were friends to Virginia but that we mistook them for that

    they say those Indians live towards the Sun Setting from the

    mountains and over a River from Virginia and that the Vir-

    ginia Indians and they were often a fighting

     Whereupon tis Resolved by his Honour the Governor and         p. 13

    this Board that since the Interpretations seem so imperfect

    and the relation they give of their Enemies so uncertain ‘tis

    most proper to refer the Enquiry and Consideration thereof

    intirely to the Governor of Virginia

     Ghesaont and the Senequa Indians deliver sundry things

    to the Governor to be kept for them till they come back from

    Virginia and if it should please God they should be cast

    away the things they Leave must be delivered Annatoquin to

    be sent up to their own Country

     Thereupon the Indians seem well pleased and take their

    Leave

     At a Council held in the Council Chamber in the City of

    Annapolis on friday the 13th day of October in the 7th year

    of the Reign of our Soyereign Lord King George of Great

    Britain &c & in the 6th year of the dominion of his Lordship

    the right honble Charles Lord Baron of Baltimore Absolute

    Lord and Proprietary of the Provinces of Maryland and Ava

    lon &c Annoq Dom 1721
