        Proceedings of the Council of Maryland, 1704/5. 185

   

    Crusifix and Beads he had about his Neck, Says he was taken Lib. C. B.

    by the ffrench Indians and Christined by a priest and had it 27

    at Canada Whence he came four year age, and has been at

    Conestogoa, and about three years agoe came to the Piscat

    aways. Coll Beale takes a knife from the said Indian which

    he says severall offer to sweare was the mans Lately Mur

    thered, Ordered that the Indian be comitted to the Goale of

    Ann Arundell County. The Indian says Montague an Indian

    gave him the Knife.

      His Excellency lays before the Boarde Coll Adisons

    Letters and the Representations of the Inhabitants on the

    fforrest of Potomeck and acquaints them of sending out the

    Rangers which was approved of. And Ordered one more be

    Added & Range ffive and ffive in a party.

      Mr Nathaniel Stinchicum Declares that a Delaway Indian

    that hunts for him told him (Drinking at Capt Dorseys) he

    Saw a Piscattaway Indian and two Eastern Shore Indians, and

    there was a Discourse that a Warr would be this Summer

    between the Indians and English. Ordered that the said Mr

    Stinchicum bring the said Indian before his Excellency with

    all Speed.

                   Present as Yesterday

      By Severall In formations Yesterday taken this Boarde are p. 2S

    Satisfied that Richard Clarke and Benjamine Celie do lye out

    from the Inhabitants and ride armed threatning the Death of

    Severall of her Majestys good Subjects here and putting the

    Inhabitants in Terrour of their Lifes & Robing their houses.

      Ordered that a Proclamation Issue with Tenn pounds Re.

    ward for takeing each or either of them and bring them to

    Iu stice.

   

   

         Att a Councill held Aprill the 9th 1705

                         Present.

               His Excellency the Governour     p. 29

      The honrble Thomas Tench Esq Coll John Hamond Lt Coll

    William Holland James Sanders Esq and Coll Thomas Ennalls.

   

    His Excellency is Pleased to Speake as followeth vizt

   

      Gentlemen I Doubt not but you'll ever do me the Justice

    to acknowledge I never desired a meeting of this honrble

    Boarde without her Majestys Imediate Service or the welfare

    and peace of your Country required it. Therefore hope youle
