302 Assembly Proceedings, June 25-26, 1702.

P. R. O.

Which being reported to the House it is ordered the Same
be Signified to his Excy by way of Message wch was Accord-
ingly done this day
Moved by a member whether it be not reasonable to allow
Colll Thomas Smithson A Gratuity ior his Many Signall Ser-
vices done this province
Resolved there be a Gratuity of Fifty pounds Sterling paid
him out of the publick Stock of this province
And Ordered Message be sent to his Excy to Joyne in the
Resolve of this house wch follows vizt

By the house of Dellegates June 26 1702

It being mooved by a Member of this house that for as
much as this province have recd Signall Services done by
Lieut Collo Thomas Smithson whereby he is worthy of a con-
siderable Gratuity Therefore Resolved By this house Nemine
Contradicente that he be paid and allowd out of the publick
Stock the Sume of fifty pounds Sterling as a prsent Gratuity
for Such service If yor Excy please to concurr therewith

James Benson's peticon read againe And
A peticon of Jasper Yates alsoe relateing to the Sale of
Milburnes Lands Likewise an accot of the lands to be Sold
And List of Debts due to the said Yates was alsoe read but
for as much as the end of this Sessions is now Expected
Therefore the Consideracon thereof is further referrd until
next Sessions and in the meantime the petrs are advised to
prepare a bill for that purpose
Majr Wm Dent Mr Wm Hutchinson and Mr John Salter are
appointed a Comittee for Laws who are Desired to withdraw
to See what Laws are Absolutely necessary to be made or
revived
Mr Wm Watts and John Baker members for St Marys
County being in the house Mr Samll Young and another mem-
ber are ordered to attend them to the Councill board to see
them Sworne
They returne and say they see them quallified
Majr Edward Dorsey Capt Lawrence Draper Majr Charles
Greenberry and Mr John Baker Sent up to his Excy with the
