Maryland Ss.
At a Council in Assembly held at the Town and Port of
Annapolis in Ann Arundel County the twenty fifth Day of
June in the first year of the reign of our Soveraign Lady Ann
by the Grace of God of England Scotland France & Ireland
Queen Defender of the Faith Annoq Domini 1702.

James Sanders Esq

of her Ma:ty's honourable Council

His Excellency lays before the Board the Lords of the
Council of Trade & Plantations Letter of the 19th of March
1701/2 And likewise the right honble the Lords of her Maj-
esty's Council their order for proclaiming her most Sacred
Majesty Queen Ann &c. Which he acquaints them that he
had Caused to be done after the most Solemn manner this
Province was capable of

And forasmuch as he had received no particular Instruc-
tions as to the administring the Oaths of Allegiance &c He
requires the opinion of the Council who advise that the oaths
appointed by Act of Parliament to be taken instead of the
Oaths of Allegiance and Supremacy be administred to and
taken by all the officers Civil and Military and other her
Majesty's good Subjects within this Province with the Altera-
tion of her late Majestys Name into that of her present Maj-
esty Queen Ann &c.

And thereupon his Excellency the Governor & the Members
& Clerk of the Council took the said Oaths & subscribed
the Test. And as to the Association tho his Excellency &
this Board are very desirous of giving all the convincing
Demonstration of their Affection & Loyalty to her most
Sacred Majesty yet that Association which is prescribed
by Act of Parliament being made upon that particular occa-
sion on the designed Assassination of his late Majesty it will
not be suitable at this Time.

Came Major William Dent & Mr John Hall from the House
of Delegates and acquaint his Excellency that their House is
met and wait his Commands

His Excellency says he is ready to receive them
