And it being found upon Enquiry that the Officers of the
Militia in Ann Arundel County had not yet taken the said
Oaths nor that they had ever been proposed to them
Ordered that the Commanders in chief in every County
within this Province being Justices of the Peace tender the
said oaths to the officers of the Militia under their Command,
and return to his Excellency An Account of their Proceedings
thereon
His Excellency acquaints the Board that for the Credit of
the Country and that we may be the more capable of Express-
ing our Duty and Affection to his Majesty on his Birth day
Coronation Day &c and otherwise of Saluting any Ships or
Strangers that may Come to this Port he had procured four-
teen Guns and caused them to be mounted on the State
house hill which was very well approved of to be creditable
& Necessary
The Board adjourned for 2 hours

The Councill again Sat present as in the morning.
Came Major Dent and Mr Philemon Lloyd from the house
& bring the Petition of John Needles Elizabeth his Wife; John
Sherwood and Lucy his Wife, and Mary Mann Spinster,
Praying an Act for the Confirmation of a certain deficient
Testamt of Edwd Mann late of Talbot Coty Gent, decd (Father
of the sd Elizth Lucy & Mary) with the Report of the Com-
mittee of Laws thereupon Which being read was well ap-
proved of
