       Proceedings of the Council of Maryland, 1696/7-98. 401

   

    that their County is deficient for want of Justices Some being Lib. X.

    dead & others Disabled that they Never yet officiated

      Ordered thereupon that a new Commission of the peace p. 15

    & for the trial of Causes upon sight hereof Issue out of the

    Secretarys Office Consisting of Collo William Peirce, Mr Iohn

    Moll, Mr Wm Harris, Mr Wm Dare, Mr John Carvile, Mr

    Edward Blay, Mr Ebenezer Blackiston Mr John Troope Mr

    Edwd Laddemore, Mr John Huison & Mr Thomas Kear

    Justices & Commissioners of Caecil County whereof the Five

    first are to be of the Quorum

      Thought fit that the Naval Officers give another Bond to

    be Sent for England & that Collo Huchins be directed to take

    Mr Wests Bond_Mr Jennings Mr Kenneday & Mr Collier

    take the new Oath of Trade which was administred to his

    Excellency the Governor

   

   

                   March the 26th 1698

      The Council again Sate & were present as Yesterday

      Esqr Jennings makes Oath to four Lists of Shipping

      Collo Addison has leave to retire home

      Mr Sam' Chew one of the Owners of the Ship of London

    humbly moved for a Register of the said Ship Saying that

    when he Came out of England he was not apprIzed of the

    late Act of Parliamt which requires such Registering of

    Vessels and that he is ready to make attestation according

    as the Law directs—Whereupon his Motion is allowed &

    Granted

      Came Thomas Swain Masr of     of Bristol bound

    for Kent Island he says he touched at Puttuxent & that the

    Officers there told him he might Enter here wch is ordered

    accordingly
